I'm a junior Ruby on Rails developer and aspiring UX designer currently living in downtown Toronto. I'm fresh out of bootcamp, having recently completed two months of intensive programming instruction as part of HackerYou's full-time Summer Academy in Ottawa. Before that, I spent most of my time working toward my B.A. in Psychology at Ryerson.
At heart, I'm one part interdisciplinarian, one part entrepreneur, and one part artist; I'm fascinated by new theoretical perspectives, passionate about solving major societal problems, and invigorated by the process of design. I'm a big picture person who's befriended the little details. Ulitmately, my bottom line is people. As a programmer, I want to build systems that make people's lives easier and more efficient. As a fledgling UX designer, I want to craft experiences that make people's lives less stressful, more satisfying, and more fun. As a pupil of psychology, I aspire to these goals through collection and analysis of user data and input.
In my free time, I enjoy painting with acrylics and coloured inks, playing Civilization 5, and dreaming up alternative endings to the TV show Lost. My current to-read list includes Antifragile by Nassim Taleb and A Memory of Light by Robert Jordan.
