Sam Ruff

An Education Management professional with more than 17 years of experience in Indiana high schools, Sam Ruff has served as a teacher, coach, Athletic Director and Assistant Principal for many of those years. Currently the Technology and Student Service Coordinator at Central Indiana Educational Service Center, Sam Ruff continues to reside in Indiana, where he pursues hobbies such as mountain biking and adventure racing in his free time.

Most recently, Sam Ruff held the position of Assistant Principal at Carmel High School, where he oversaw general operations and student services. Previously, he served Cascade High School in the same capacity, while also heading the athletics department. Before these positions, Ruff taught at Avon High School and Lawrence Central High School. At both schools, he also coached the wrestling team, and at Lawrence Central he led the football team as well. As a teacher, Sam Ruff instructed students in the sciences; he has taught courses in environmental science, earth and space science, physical science, applied physics, and advanced environmental science.

As preparation for his career, Sam Ruff attended the University of Indianapolis, which granted him a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education. Later, he received a Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Educational Administration from Ball State University. He also is currently a Ed.D. candidate at Indiana University.

Sam Ruff currently involves himself with Team Nebo Ridge Bicycles, which seeks to spread a passion for biking throughout his community. As a member of Team Nebo Ridge, he competes in off-road and mountain biking events. He has also participated in other biking events, including the Mohican 100 in Ohio, Lumberjack 100 in Michigan, RAIN, and the Planet Adventure Race; the last combines various outdoor skills, and participants cooperate as a team.
