Hi, my name is Samuel Grech. I am a graphic designer and art student, with a drive to discover new ways to create art through experimentation with different mediums, the aim being to create different but unique styles of art or design.
As part of my studies, I have also acquired a solid financial background, culminating in my Junior College years where I also studied Accounting and Finance. As an 18 year old I also gained some experience in the financial sector, working for a multitude of clients in various sectors. Whilst this background is not directly related to the Graphic and Design sector, the experience I have gained throughout has greatly improved me individually. Also, as a direct result, I have greatly improved my work ethic which is a skill that transcends all industries.
During that time I started meddling with 3D Modelling programs and Graphic Design, inspired by my passion for video games. This lead to some friends approaching me to help out with web design for multiple websites including the Fgura United Football Club, Anthony Ferla Photography and other small jobs that had to do with the updating of elements on already established websites. All the above lead me to start learning Art and Design, first by practicing art on my own and consecutively attending private tuition with the aim of obtaining qualifications in this area.
My passion for games also inspired me to try my hand at coding, gaining some experience with Java. My philosophy has always been to learn as much as I can and that I should try my hand at various different skills, either by learning a new language, practicing a sport or playing an instrument.
In 2014 I had the opportunity of working with a team of friends to create a game for the Game Development Challenge organized by St. Martins Institute. This was a great experience where I experienced tight deadlines and a more insightful look into the creative process. Our hard work paid off and we won the competition with the game named 'Guardian of the Order', in which I took care of the art direction, art creation, animation, some game design and also creating the starting movie scene.
We went on to found a small games company of 6 people with the aim of producing great games for the players.
