Samuel Vélez

For 17 years, my life was centered around a paper and office supply shop. But my heart was searching for a deeper connection, which I ultimately found in the sacred plant medicines of Colombia. Today, I am a husband, father, and a dedicated apprentice and practitioner of traditional ancestral medicine.

Based in the beautiful mountains of El Retiro, outside Medellín, my family and I are building a medicine house and sanctuary—a space dedicated to sharing, learning, and preserving these ancient traditions for future generations. I work alongside traditional elders, facilitating retreats at Camino al Sol to help others heal, forgive, and find their own clarity.

My philosophy is simple: we are each the "president of our own country"—responsible for our homes, our families, and our own inner peace. In the great weave of life, I focus on making sure my own puzzle piece is in the right place, helping others do the same, and striving daily to think well, speak well, and wish well.
