Wei Sam Soo is a London-based pianist and piano teacher. She completed her MMus in Performance in Trinity Conservatoire of Music and Dance and BMus (Hons) in King's College London where she specialised in Advanced Performance Studies under the guidance of Professor Michael Young and Colin Stone from Royal Academy of Music. She also studied Advacned Free Composition with Rob Keeley and Joseph Phibbs. As a soloist, Wei Sam Soo is a previous winner of the Young Persons' Piano Competition and the Malaysia Youth Festival 2007. She was also the finalist of Roland Piano Festival 2009. She is a popular guest pianist, either as a soloist or a chamber pianist, and has performed in various occasions such as North London Festival, Christmas concert in St. James Church, Blackheath Halls and etc.
Wei Sam is very keen and passionate in delivering piano and music theory lessons. She has been engaged in teaching for the past 9 years and is very experienced in dealing with pupils across all age range. She is currently working as a piano teacher in Dea Music Academy and Wimbledon Saturday Music College. All of her students who have taken either practical or theory grade examinations obtained 100% pass rate. Many of her students have been accepted into prestigious specialist music schools across the country.
Wei Sam is currently studying her PhD in University of Roehampton under supervision of Professor Adam Ockelford working on a research project in piano pedagogy for children with autism. She is a common face in various professional development courses such as EPTA piano teacher training course where she equips herself with the latest development in music education.
