Sandhya Rao


Sandhya is the CEO of impactXdesign, a social innovation advisory firm. impactXdesign partners with mission-driven organizations across sectors and disciplines to accelerate positive social change and promote sustainable, inclusive and resilient economies.

For over 20 years, Sandhya has advised governments, NGOs and corporations on the design, management and evaluation of global development programs and partnerships. She has dedicated much of her career to measuring and improving aid effectiveness. Sandhya is also known for her programmatic and advocacy efforts on issues that impact the lives of women and girls.

As Senior Advisor at USAID, Sandhya co-founded several public-private partnerships, including the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA), launched by Secretary Hillary Clinton in 2011. In 2012, she created mPowering Frontline Health Workers, a global partnership with Intel, Qualcomm, GSK, Vodafone, and UNICEF.

In 2013, Sandhya was awarded an inaugural Social Innovation Fellowship by the Rockefeller Foundation.
