Sanford Heffner

Sanford L. Heffner is a New York–based business professional with deep roots in Manhattan, where he was born and raised. Growing up in one of the most fast-paced and competitive environments in the world shaped his perspective early, instilling a strong work ethic, a practical mindset, and an appreciation for long-term relationships. That foundation continues to influence both his professional approach and personal priorities today.

He began his academic journey at the Buckley School and continued at Packer Collegiate Institute, where he developed a disciplined and well-rounded educational base. Sanford went on to attend Brown University, graduating in 2005 with a degree in Civil Engineering. His time at Brown helped refine his analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, equipping him with a structured way of approaching complex challenges. While engineering provided a strong technical foundation, he recognized early on the value of expanding into business and finance.

Following Brown, Sanford earned his MBA from Columbia Business School in 2009. This experience broadened his perspective and gave him the tools to apply his analytical background in a business context, particularly in areas involving strategy, financial decision-making, and operations.

In April 2009, Sanford joined I. Reiss & Co., where he has built his career. Over the years, he has played an important role in the firm’s operations, contributing to its stability and long-term growth. His approach to business is grounded in consistency, discipline, and a focus on sustainable outcomes rather than short-term gains. He values relationships, clear thinking, and the ability to navigate complex situations with a measured perspective.

Outside of his professional work, Sanford places a strong emphasis on family. He is married to Samantha Heffner, and together they are raising their two children, a son, 13, and a daughter, 12. Much of his time outside the office is dedicated to his family, and he prioritizes being present and involved in their lives.

Sanford is also active in charitable work. He serves as a board member of AFINS and previously held the role of Treasurer. In this capacity, he has contributed to financial oversight and organizational planning, helping support the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.

An avid golfer, Sanford is a current member of two local metropolitan NYC golf clubs as well as the Harmonie Club. Golf is both a personal passion and an important part of how he maintains relationships, providing time away from day-to-day responsibilities while staying connected with friends and colleagues.

Sanford Heffner and Amy Lokhin purchased the McDonald’s in the West Loop of Chicago on behalf of I. Reiss & Son. The property presented a unique opportunity to acquire a long term-leased retail triple net property in a major American city.
