Hello, I’m Sanjana. I’m a student living in Troy, Michigan. I am currently a senior at Troy High School.

I love to volunteer and help out my community. Every summer I volunteer at the Troy Community Center's Lego/Robotics/Science camps. This involves helping the teacher set up activities and helping kids assemble parts. I am also a part of the National Honor Society at Troy High. This has given me so many exciting volunteer opportunities such as ushering at graduation and calling out numbers for bingo at Sunrise Nursing Home.

I also enjoy dancing for my school's dance team. I have been on the team since my freshman year. We dance at homecoming and home basketball games. In the past couple years we have not had a large number of people join the team, so this year I thought I would try to make a difference and hang flyers throughout the school which caused many people to join. I have also been playing piano since I was four years old. During my freshman year I won first place at the American Guild of Music Great Lakes Regional Competition. This past year I competed at the national competition.

On top of my love for volunteering and the arts, I also love engineering. This year I competed at the Science and Engineering Fair of Metropolitan Detroit with a project about support structures used in 3D printing. This involved doing research in a local university's lab. It was an incredible experience through which I learned that engineering is what I want to do in the future.

This summer I was lucky to be selected for the University of Michigan Ann Arbor's Summer College Engineering Exposure Program. Through this two week residential program, I was able to work with faculty members along with my team to come up with a solution for the Grand Engineering Challenge of Securing Cyberspace.

In my spare time I love traveling with my family. We have had the chance to take many amazing trips such as visiting six countries in Europe in two weeks and going to the northern most town of Alaska. Through these experiences I have gained an appreciation for taking the time to learn about different cultures and ways of life.
