A seasoned Board & Global banking leader, ESG steward & AI governance expert, Santanu brings three decades of experience in shaping business growth, enterprise-scale governance, strategy, and risk oversight across leading global financial institutions. As the former Managing Director and APAC South Head at Wells Fargo Bank, Singapore, he led large businesses and diverse teams across multiple geographies delivering strong P&L outcomes, while also driving risk-aligned business transformation, as Member of APAC Executive & Risk Committees.
Prior to Wells Fargo, he held senior leadership roles at Credit Agricole CIB, HSBC, and ABN AMRO Bank. Notably, he helped establish India’s first-ever Banking Global Capability Centre for ABN AMRO in 1999.
Santanu currently serves on Global Boards and partners with SME business owners and founders in tech enabled businesses. Combining regulatory & fiduciary judgement from global banking with contemporary expertise on Responsible AI, cyber resilience, digital risk, and ESG stewardship, he helps Boards navigate strategic, governance, and risk challenges to support resilient, long-term value creation.
He also advises founders & emerging businesses on scaling, capital strategy and building governance frameworks that attract institutional confidence.
Santanu is also an International Coaching Federation (ICF) credentialed Coach and works with CXOs in navigating inflection points with clarity and conviction.
Santanu is an MBA from Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi, KPMG Certified Board Director, Fellow of Institute of Directors (IOD) & Board Stewardship, and Certified ESG Professional by IOD. He has also completed executive program in AI Ethics, Regulation and Compliance at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Santanu is widely recognized for his thought leadership on Responsible Innovation, AI in Finance, ESG & Sustainability, Leadership, Risk & Resilience Strategy and regularly contributes to leading publications. He also speaks regularly at prestigious forums including ADB, SIBOS, the IMC Chamber of Commerce, and Microsoft and advances governance dialogue at platforms like IOD and Board Stewardship.
