Sara Hecht is the art liaison and art educator at P.S./I.S. 323 in Brooklyn, New York, where she has taught pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students since 2003. Her dedication to her school and students is evident in her endless enthusiasm and positive daily attitude. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Hecht is involved in producing the annual yearbook, creating slideshows for school assemblies, curating art exhibits, and grant writing. She was the art director for the middle school Broadway Junior theater production running for ten years, as well as the elementary school Disney theater production where she tirelessly works with students and community volunteers creating sets and props and designing costumes. Sara was recognized by the District Superintendent for her "contribution to the arts and creative organization of the 2012 Art Show". Mrs. Hecht was identified as a Woman of Valor by the New York State Senate in appreciation of her outstanding contribution to the Brownsville community when she received the Carrie Pearson-Sampson Education award in 2012. She also received a Proclamation from the Brooklyn Borough President in 2017. Sara completed her Masters of Science in Visual Arts Education at SUNY New Paltz in 2010. She researched and wrote her thesis on Applying Differentiation Strategies in the Visual Arts Urban Classroom.
