Sara Nelson
Student and Volunteer in Orlando, Florida
One of the most powerful moments in my life was when I discovered that I have the power to create the career I have always dreamed of but never thought was possible. My name is Sara Nelson and I am studying communication at Rollins College. Majoring in Communication Studies at a liberal arts college has allowed me the opportunity to explore disciplines I had never studied before. One which resonates with my goals and purpose, both personally and professionally, proves to be marketing and fundraising for the outreach efforts of charitable organizations. I enjoy volunteering, animals, and writing. I am interested in psychology and entrepreneurship. A passion of mine is supporting nonprofit organizations, and I currently volunteer with the therapeutic equestrian program Freedom Ride in Orlando, FL.
Recently, I interned with this organization as a communications intern with an emphasis on generating awarenessand funds for the program’s mission of helping those with physical, emotional, and developmental special needs. Horses have always been close to my heart and I enjoy being a part of the powerful connections they allow us to form and embracing the joy they instill in our lives. My future goals include continuing to support nonprofit organizations through public relations, fundraising, and marketing efforts. I will pursue this through involvement in social entrepreneurship in the hopes of combining my dream of helping others with my experiences, interests, and activities.
