Sarah Hasemann

Amherst, Massachusetts, United States

My name is Sarah Hasemann and currently I am a junior at Isenberg School of Management at the University of Masschusetts Amherst. I am studying hospitality and tourism management and concentrating on special events. My dream has always been to work with people and work in an industry where making people happy is the number 1 goal. Hospitality is definitely an industry that aims to do just that. While the entire industry is rich with opportunities for success, I have an unbelievable passion for weddings.

I started to become really interested in weddings when TLC starting putting out shows such as Say Yes to the Dress and Four weddings. While I’ve always loved weddings, these shows got me even more excited about them. I immediately became glued to all of them, I even found myself thinking about what I would do differently. Soon after, I decided that I wanted to be an event planner, in hopes of someday being a wedding planner.

Not originally from Massachusetts, after graduation I want to move back to New York and pursue my dream of event planning in the city that never sleeps. With thousands of people and beautiful venues, my dream would be to be part of the planning of all the gorgeous extravagant weddings that take place there. The idea of taking a brides “dream wedding” and making it a reality is what motivates me the most. I love the detail, the emotion, and all the decorations that go into this one special day. But the number one thing that makes weddings such a passion of mine is being able to make such a special, important day in someone’s life perfect.

I'm currently pursuing this dream and interviewing with a few companies that do a lot of work with weddings and other speical events. Needless to say I'm overjoyed to begin this new journey into the world of events.

I've always been told that if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life and there couldn't be a more perfect industry to make that a reality!
