I am currently a fourth year Sport Administration student at the University of Cincinnati spending my final semester of undergrad completing my senior capstone internship with The United States Olympic Committee.
Since setting foot on UC's campus in the fall of 2011 my collegiate experiences have helped identify what I hope to accomplish. Little did I know that the experience that would have the most profound impact would happen halfway across the world.
As a sophomore I studied abroad in Jeonju, South Korea. Prior to my trip I did not know how to say a single word of Korean. While there what I found was that something that I knew all to well all I needed to communicate was a Cincinnati Reds baseball cap and a basketball.
The true power of sport. It is an international language that knows no boundaries. Sport has the ability to create cross-cultural connections amongst individuals who may believe that they do not have anything in common. It also has the ability to empower those who are otherwise powerless. I found my passion: to be able to utilize sport as a tool to enact change.
