I live in rural Suffolk and run a shop, Blue Dog, and self catering holiday apartment, Blue Dog Quarters, in the small town of Clare.

Before opening Blue Dog in 2007 I worked in technology and product development in Cambridge with a strong interest in ergonomics. I am still a bit obsessive about good design and usability.

I'm very concerned about the future of our high streets and small towns. As a country we have embraced the out of town mall, look-a-like chains and the convenience of online shopping to the detriment of our local communities. We must support our independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs! As a shop keeper I have first hand experience of the social importance of local businesses in a small community.

When I'm not working in Suffolk I can often be found beside the sea in Cornwall.
