Hello, I’m Sarah. I’m a student living in Guelph, Ontario, Canada in my 3rd year studying Biological Sciences. I have taken a windy road to get to my current major having changed a few times. I believe I am finally in the one that will stick. I have taken courses in human kinetics, human biology as well as core sciences.

I am interested in biological science in relations to human health and disease. The ways in which our environment, lifestyle and education influences our overall health fascinates me.

Someone in the Science Community who has inspired me is Dr. Brian Goldman. He is a physician who hosts “White Coat, Black Art’ on CBC. He demystifies the world of medicine by showing the medical culture from the other side of the gurney for the public. His podcasts are the reason I hope to pursue a career in Public Health Communications.

My current career goal is to work in Public Health. I would ultimately like to have a job promoting health and wellness through education on lifestyle choices so that social barriers to health can be limited. I am a strong believer that everyone deserves access to the resources, knowledge and skills necessary to live a healthy and productive long life.

In my personal time I enjoy exercising and spending time outside with my 2 rescue dogs. I enjoy finding new ways to move my body that isn’t necessarily going to the gym including yoga, spin class and hiking. I am fortunate to have grown up with dogs and currently have 2 rescue pups. MJ is a Catahoula Leopard Hound who was found in northern Ontario and stole our hearts with her odd looks, chatty nature and intelligence. Scout is a beagle who spent the first 18 months of his life in a crate in a research lab. His sad eyes, loyal nature and insistence on carrying socks around the house make Scout Scout and the reason we became foster fails.

Something that most people wouldn’t know about me is I am an avid fan of mystery books and a huge Kathy Reichs fan.
