Making and drawing since I could hold a pencil and a pair of scissors, it's as natural and necessary to me as breathing.

I studied Fashion at RMIT in Melbourne and after a short stint in the industry, I 'fell' into teaching. I loved it, and still do. As a small child I dreamed of being just like my art teachers and would get out of maths classes to help clean up in the art room. Here I am, a million years later teaching art and textiles to teenagers.

Throughout my teaching career I have continued to make and sell, usually by commission but in the last 12 months I've really had a burning desire to get serious about creating an alternative work life. So, my label mabel & george has been launched, creating digital print fabrics and screenprinted embroidery kits for crafters. I'm loving it and am so thrilled when someone uses my fabric to create their own work. I also love the contact with people at makers' markets and having a creative focus.

I'm moved by mountains and rivers and sky

I'm inspired by historical vignettes and beautiful gardens
