Sarah Crane Newman

Operations Manager, Project Manager, and User Testing Lead in San Francisco, California

I excel at transforming rough ideas and early-stage projects into concrete outcomes with measurable results. I’ve spent the last five years at consumer products startups, where I gained broad experience in operations, user testing, project management, product development, and more. I’m now looking for a role as an operations manager, user testing program manager, project manager, or similar; I’m particularly interested in roles that combine managerial and individual contributor responsibilities.

As Director of Operations at Build & Imagine, I enabled the transformation of a Kickstarter-backed idea into a company whose sales are doubling every year. Among other things, I established and managed all of Build & Imagine’s accounting, logistics, and order-processing systems. I hired third-party logistics partners and accountants, set us up to work with large retailers like Amazon, Target, QVC, and Wal-Mart, and collaborated with our manufacturing partner in China. When a port strike delayed the arrival of our products for the holidays, I worked with our freight forwarder to extract our shipment from the port, visited our warehouse to expedite processing, and prioritized orders to maximize the time our products would have in stores before Christmas. I thrived on these challenges and myriad responsibilities.

My work is always informed by the big picture: the company’s mission and the users’ needs. As the Customer & Channel Support Lead at Sifteo, I made sure that users’ feedback informed product development, while troubleshooting individual users’ problems. When the company conducted a net promoter score survey, the only factor that consistently correlated with customers giving Sifteo a positive NPS was an interaction with me. At Build & Imagine, I conducted customer research to ensure that our products and marketing were communicating the company’s values. By always keeping the big picture in mind, I make sure that my energy is directed toward the most important tasks.
