Sarah Corza

" I was always that kid everyone said I would do something with my life."

Sarah Corza is an electric/Upright bassist coming from Los Angeles. Born in Monterey Park, California, Sarah has been known to be the entertainer of all of her siblings. She had come from a musical background. Her father, Hector Corza, is a drummer along with her uncles, which have a band together called Los Lacers. Sarah grew up watching her father and uncles playing, and always had a passion to entertain. Its wasn't until she was 13, and she got the opportunity to play a musical instrument, the Alto Saxophone. Her uncle later taught her how to play the electric bass. It wasn't until high school where she had to teach herself how to read music with the experience she had.

When she was 16, she was handed the upright bass for her high school jazz band. She was told if she wanted to keep playing jazz, she had to learn how to play it. Over her high school experience she received many awards, including two Louis Armstrong awards, which is the highest jazz award. She always received scholarships to go to Idyllwild jazz camp for two years. Her senior year of high school, she applied for Berklee College of music, and got accepted, but had to defer due to family tragedies.

Sarah decided to attend Citrus College to continue her music until she went to Boston for school. She had a chance to study with some fine musicians, Such as David Enos, a famous bassists who has played with many musician, including Arturo Sandoval. She also got first hand experience with gigging as a professional musician, and even going on tour to Hawaii with the citrus college big band and pop group. She is currently attending Berklee college of music.
