One of my strengths is Positivity. To me, positivity means to always look on the brighter side of things. I am quick to give people praise and keep people optimistic with high energy and enthusiasm. I identify with positivity because I truly try my best to look on the bright side of things and give everyone I see a smile. Positivity fully impacts my life in every way. Academically, I am always positive about assignments and willing to work; personally, I am positive about my self and encourage myself daily; socially, I make sure the people around me happy and enthused.
In one of my first year success series, I learned about studying abroad at Ohio State. I was always unsure about if studying abroad would work for me or not because of all the requirements within my EHE major. However, after going to this session, I am 100% positive that I want to study abroad, and I am more sure that I will be able to fit it into my schedule without delaying graduation. I learned all about the amazing opportunities that OSU offers their students as different options abroad.
For the "Dream Job" activity, I found a middle school math teaching position in an inner city school. Ever since coming to Ohio State, I have wanted to experience teaching in an urban setting. I have thought a lot about doing Teach For America, or just simply applying for a teaching position in an underprivileged school district. After looking at this job description that I found online for the activity, I am more sure that I want to teach in an urban setting and make a difference in the achievement gap.
