What I do:

  • Conduct community management across social media platforms
  • Copywrite - all day, every day
  • Assist campus communicators and departments in developing social media strategies, learning about best practices, better connecting with current students and alumni, etc.
  • Embark down a new marketing path at Florida State via whipping up fresh digital campaigns that will better focus our efforts and increase our success
  • Establish and strengthen a digital support system for the university - online advocates, if you will - via bloggers, influencers, social media-savvy alumni, etc., collaborate with administration members to demonstrate that social media is a vital method to better serve our students, employees, alumni, and community (local to international)
  • Curate content (my personal favorite)
  • Make use of Meltwater, Hootsuite, Google Analytics, and everything in between

When I work: 24/7/365. Or close to it. Let's be honest; there's no such thing as 9 to 5 (or 8 to 6...or 7 to 7) in the realm of social media.

Where I work: Tallahassee, FL.

Why I do what I do: Social Media Marketing, Content Coordination, Community Management, Digital Media Strategy - whatever you want to call it, I have a deep, head-over-heels love for it. It's no secret that I love to talk. A lot. While interning for an art gallery, I realized I like having a voice - and being one for a cause, campaign, brand, or business.

Social media isn't meant to be sales-y. It's meant to connect. Engage. Inspire. Share. Sure, a brand or business' goal is to sell its product, but companies have a responsibility to listen to their audiences and interact. Who buys what a brand sells? The people. Who votes for a candidate? The people. Who donates to a cause? You guessed it - the people.

I like what I do - connecting on a variety of platforms personally and professionally, developing content to keep a brand fresh, fun, and engaging to keep folks coming back, learning something new every day.
