Sarah Grannis

My name is Sarah Grannis and I'm a college student at Carroll University (Waukesha, WI). I'll be graduating in May 2013 with a Bachelors of Arts in Communication, along with minors in both Marketing and Sociology.

I'm currently working as a social media marketing intern for the Waukesha Business Improvement District. Working to promote businesses and events in the Downtown Waukesha community has been a great experience for me (and a lot of fun as well!). As the social media marketing intern, I manage our Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as develop and send out a weekly email newsletter to almost 2,000 Waukesha residents informing them of exciting events going on in our community each week. I really love developing a online presence for the city of Waukesha, it allows me to be creative and interact with a large audience to show off our city.

What else should you know about me? In my spare time, I'm a member of Chi Omega sorority at Carroll University. I grew up in Madison so you can probably guess I'm a major Wisconsin Badgers fan. You'll rarely see me without either an iced vanilla latte or Diet Coke in my hand. I love traveling - I've been to both Italy and Switzerland (I can speak some Italian as well). Sometimes I wish I could live in Barnes & Noble - or any bookstore for that matter - since I'm usually reading at least 2-3 books at a time. I've previously worked in animal rescue and am the world's biggest pet lover....I actually have had to personally ban myself from Petsmart on their weekend adoption days out of fear of bringing half a dozen puppies and kittens home. I'm also the kind of person who likes to strike up conversations with people anywhere - at airports, while waiting in line at Starbucks, with the people sitting next to me at Milwaukee Brewer games - mainly because I believe everyone has an interesting story once you get to know them.

As I previously mentioned, I will be graduating in May 2013 and would love to pursue a career in social media marketing or public relations. Ideally I'd like to find a job that will allow me to utilize my creative skills and market our product to an audience, essentially developing a strong personal brand for the company.
