I joined CareSearch Palliative Care Knowledge Network at Flinders University in January 2012 after many years as a librarian and online information manager, in research and educational libraries. I had a short stint in a health library and have always had a huge interest in the health sector. My passion has been working with online information that is free to access and designed to be useful for people working in their own fields of expertise. I am thrilled to be able to do this at CareSearch in the context of palliative care – something that will touch every person’s life. My role here is to build and manage the search filters that connect users directly to the best available evidence in online databases, chiefly PubMed. I also look after the Finding Evidence section of the website, creating specialised topic searches and supporting users through training and presentations.
I have also worked in special, research and educational libraries for more than 30 years, as a librarian, indexer, manager and researcher. I have a strong interest in online information management and a lasting interest in online bibliographic databases and their construction. I am fascinated by online search mechanisms and associated quality issues.
