Sarah Phillipson is the owner of SP Hotel Consulting and has 30 years of international experience in the hospitality industry.

As their trusted business partner and advocate, she has worked alongside architects, engineers, lawyers, bankers, valuers and designers to deliver profitable and well-considered investments.
Sarah’s career has led her to work in multiple cities and countries, including the UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Singapore, Japan, China, New Zealand and South Korea.
Prior to starting SP Hotel Consulting, Sarah worked at M&L Hospitality, a Singaporean, privately-owned hospitality and real estate platform owned by Michael Kum. M&L have transacted more than 25 hotels across Asia Pacific and Europe. Their portfolio is valued at close to SGD 3 billion.
In her role as Head of Asset & Investment Management, Sarah was intimately involved in all acquisitions and managed more than 1,000 owner meetings with various international brands and star ratings across eight countries.
She was also involved in other aspects of the business, including due diligence, asset management, disposal of assets, capital plans, rebrands, de-flags, insurance placement and budgeting.
Prior to M&L, Sarah worked for Starwood Hotels (Sheraton, Westin, W) for 11 years. Her final role was Assistant Vice President Finance for Asia Pacific based in the Singapore Divisional Office (130 hotels). She concurrently held the role of Regional Controller for China, South Korea and Taiwan and directly oversaw the financial results and financial controllers of 25 hotels.
Sarah is a qualified CPA with a Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management. She served as a Committee member for CPA Australia and completed the REIT Capital Markets & Financial Advisory Services exam. She has also been a panelist at AHICE, Australia’s largest hotel conference.
