I work at the intersection of science, law and policy on ocean and coastal health initiatives. I discovered my passion for environmental issues by way of a NOLS sea-kayaking expedition in Alaska soon after being commissioned as an Air Force officer specializing in meteorology. I spent my military service leading an operational floor of scientists responsible for providing weather support to military bases west of the Mississippi. My leadership in the military’s oceanographic and meteorological programs, graduate work on ecosystem services, and legal experience in the nation’s capital provide the breadth and depth necessary for my life's passion: informing conservation initiatives to foster humanity's ocean and coastal experiences. I also hold an Adjunct Faculty position at Vermont Law School, where I teach Environmental Dispute Resolution in the distance-learning program. My peer-reviewed research is published in Polar Geography and Stanford’s Environmental Law Journal and has been presented at various conferences.
