Sarah Russo is a public relations professional with 14 years of experience working with authors and publishers on their communications, publicity, marketing, branding and social strategy. Sarah specializes in politics, history, science and the environment, education, business, and literary fiction.
Sarah Russo Public Relations launched in May 2011 with the international bestseller Go the F**k to Sleep written by Adam Mansbach and illustrated by Ricardo Cortes. She is currently retained by And Other Stories as their North American Director of Publicity and NoiseTrade as their Director of Publishing Partnerships and Communications. She also represents author and military strategist David Kilcullen as his publicist and speaking agent.
In the past year, Sarah’s campaigns have featured an eclectic group of books including American Honor Killings by David McConnell, The Allure of Order by Jal Mehta, The Islands by Carlos Gamerro, University Press Week 2013 for the AAUP and Out of the Mountains by David Kilcullen. Her next speaking engagement is at Social Media Week 2014 in New York City.
In collaboration with Lauren Cerand, Sarah promotes the National Book Critics Circle Awards and the NBCC pro bono. In 2012, Sarah worked on a variety of projects including the iPad app Skulls by Simon Winchester and developed by Touch Press, Hemlock Grove by Brian McGreevy which debuted as a Netflix television series in April 2013, a campaign announcing Roger Hodge as the new Editor of the The Oxford American, Matt Dojny’s first novel The Festival of Earthly Delights and Eliot Schrefer’s National Book Award shortlisted novel Endangered. among others. She serves on the Brooklyn Book Festival’s PR and Marketing Committee.
Before launching SRPR, Sarah was the Associate Director of Publicity and Communications for Oxford University Press and prior to that Publicity Manager at Farrar, Straus & Giroux and Director of Publicity at Other Press. She has also worked for Alfred A. Knopf, Doubleday and Scribner.
Sarah has crafted and executed launches for major publishing events such as the AIA Guide to New York City, the 80th Anniversary of the Oxford English Dictionary, Benjamin Moser’s Why This World: A Biography of Clarice Lispector, helped established the Oxford World Classics Word for Word Book Club in the Bryant Par
