Bonjour! Hello! I’m Sarah Hunter!

I’m not just your average, run-of-the-mill baker, I’m a patissier darling. That’s right, I’m practically French (I certainly own enough French knickers to convince the local boutique de lingerie).

What is a patissier? Translated, it means simply a pastry chef. But to me, it’s much, much more than that!i

I love the art of baking…I’m obsessed with the sweet sugary scent of cake batter, the melt-in-your-mouth softness of a golden macaroon, baked to perfection, the first, spicy taste of a chilli chocolate tart. I’m addicted to the satisfaction of perfectly round cupcakes, architecturally-layered gateaux, and soft, cloud-like soufflés.

In short, I am living my dream.

I have studied patisserie for two years, gaining my diploma from Auckland University of Technology and have worked in some of Auckland’s most famous patisseries. Before this I studied design for four years at Unitec, obtaining my degree in object design.

I’ve always loved to use my hands and now combine my two passions of baking and design to create beautiful, exotic and surprising cakes and desserts with crazy (but delicious!) new flavours and shapes.
