Sara Ward Thomas
Trauma Informed Care Coordinator
I have a Master's Degree in Social Work and a License in Clinical Social Work.
For 5 years, I provided individual and group therapy services to the unhoused in Springfield. The majority of my clients were survivors of domestic violence who were living in area shelters. For the past 11 years, I have provided individual therapy services for families receiving services through First Steps. I primarily treat Foster and Adoptive families.
I have a HeartMath Clinical Certification for Stress, Anxiety and Emotional Management. I enjoy using tools in my practice that connect people to the ways that trauma has impacted their nervous system and empower them to create more connection and ease in their body.
I have experienced the privilege of trauma survivors inviting me into their lives and sharing their stories with me. I am continually blown away by the incredible resilience of the human spirit.
This is why I am honored to be part of A Girl Like Me Network.
I know great healing is possible, especially with support. I have witnessed the power of connection in my own life and would not be here today without the support and concern of others. I am excited to witness young ladies learn more about how wonderful, strong, and incredible they are as they take steps toward reaching their personal goals.
