I am a fourth year doctoral student in the program. Prior to attending UH, I received my bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College. I then taught history at an all-girls’ high school in Virginia for three years. Wanting to combine my interests in education and psychology, I obtained my master’s degree in school psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. For my LSSP license, I completed practicums in NYC and my internship with Ft. Worth Independent School District. My research interests include children with chronic health conditions, early intervention, and developmental assessment. I am currently an advanced practicum student at the University of Houston Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic. I have previously completed practicums at the Adolescent Medicine Division at Texas Children’s Hospital and the MHMRA of Harris County. For the past three years, I have engaged in research on children born preterm at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. This opportunity led to my doctoral candidacy project, which examined developmental outcomes of this population using screening tools. This research collaboration has also led to publications in peer-reviewed journals such as Clinical Practice in Pediatric Psychology and presentations at national conferences. In 2013, I received an APA Student Travel Award to present my doctoral candidacy project at the annual APA conference. The UH School Psychology Program has provided numerous unique research and training opportunities that are often unavailable to graduate students. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about my experiences as a student in the program.
