A molecular screening scientist with Pairwise since 2018, Dr. Sathya Sheela Jali leads the delivery of throughput molecular screening assays for the company. In addition to developing sequencing technology, she has evaluated the budget and resources of targeted capturing on various sequencing platforms. Dr. Sathya Jali has also improved processes for extracting DNA from plants, bacteria, and human cell tissues to reduce costs and improve sample quality.

Before joining Pairwise, Dr. Sathya Sheela Jali spent 3 years as a postdoctoral fellow, working under Dr. Heike Sederoff to establish a targeted clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) gene editing system. In addition to working with various advanced CRISPR editing techniques, she utilized CRISPR methods to evaluate plant phenotypes and their effects on oil content and yield. Earlier, she served as a postdoctoral research associate at the Great Lake Bioenergy Research Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

Dr. Jali holds a master of science in plant genetic manipulation from Nottingham University in the United Kingdom and a PhD in biology from Western University in Ontario, where she received a 5-year research scholarship.
