Satyakam Basu

As founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of the Mumbai, India-based Samshi Group of Companies, entrepreneur Satyakam Basu brings to his work more than 30 years of experience in steel manufacturing, along with demonstrated achievements in business development, sales, and marketing. For the past decade, Mr. Basu has built the Samshi Group into a diversified family of companies focused on steel production, pipe manufacturing, power generation, and more, accumulating a number of notable successes in India and abroad.

Satyakam Basu has completed two major greenfield projects with Samshi Pipe Industries Ltd, through which he manufactures SAW pipes in Vadodara. Mr. Basu draws upon solid values of environmental stewardship, safe working conditions, and management efficiency in all aspects of his work at the Samshi Group.

Prior to the formation of the Samshi Group in 2003, Satyakam Basu spent a lengthy period with Ispat Sidex, now known as ArcelorMittal Galati, during which time he served in executive capacities at steel production sites in Romania and the Czech Republic. He also sat on the Board of Directors for Ispat Annaba, now ArcelorMittal Annaba, and other company divisions. Previously, Mr. Basu worked as Senior Vice President of International Business at Essar Steel, Director of Steel at Mobar, Deputy Divisional Manager for Tata Steel, Regional Manager at Uni Abex Alloy Products Ltd., and Senior Sales Engineer with Greaves Foseco Ltd.

A graduate of the Indian Institute of Management Kolkata and Jadavpur University, Satyakam Basu earned his Master of Business Administration and degree in Metallurgical Engineering from these respective schools. He lives with his family in Mumbai.
