Saurabh Vartak

Saurabh Vartak developed a fascination for classical music at a tender age. At the age of eight he started his basic lessons of Harmonium at Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya,Pune. At the age of twelve he refined and polished his skills for 12 years under the guidance of Shri Madhav Marne , a senior most disciple of ‘Harmonium Maestro ‘Pandit Appa Saheb Jagaonkar .

In the year 2002 , he attended a Live performance of the Legendry flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia at the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival and was spellbound by Panditji’s magical and mellifluous performance and from that day he determined to learn basuri.

He is a disciple of the legendary flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia ji ,simultaneously he is training himself under the guidance of Pt. Rajendra Kulkarni from Pune.

He is a versatile artist with focus on pure classical solos ,duets with sitar , sarod ,violin and vocal . He performs devotional songs . He has his own fusion band and has shared stage with international artists like Ustad Shakir khan and Shaunak Abhisheki .

Recently Saurabh performed at the opening ceremony of PUNE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL on 8 th January 2015 with the ace percussionist Ustad Taufiq Qureshi ji ( brother of Ustad Zakir Husain) .Saurabh Performs oftenly with Shikhar Naad Qureshi ( son of Ustad Taufiq Qureshi & Nephew of Ustad Zakir Hussain ).
