Savannah Leah Jones
Valdosta, Georgia, United States
Hi everyone, my name is Savannah Leah Jones. I am from a small town about an hour north of Atlanta called Calhoun, Georgia. I lived there my whole life until I came to Valdosta State University for college last year. My freshman year was quite the experience. I lived five hours away from my home, so I definitely matured a lot over the year. Living on my own without my parents taught me responsibility as well as how appreciative I should be towards them. I lived in the dorm Georgia Hall and I was in a sorority. I guess you could say that I did the typical freshman thing. However, I quickly realized that the “college life” was not for me. It was fun for one semester and then I decided walking a mile every day to my car from my dorm and having something to do with my sorority everyday was just not for me. I am very thankful, however, to have met my boyfriend in October of my freshman year. Needless to say, almost everything from last year has changed except him. I now live in a house with two roommates that are my good friends and instead of being in a sorority, I now have a job at Valdosta Family Medicine. I am currently working as a triage nurse there which consists of taking vitals and a few other tasks for our patients. With that being said, you could guess that my major is nursing. I have always had a passion for taking care of people. I love knowing that my job could impact many people’s lives.
Although I love nursing, I really love the beach. I go there just about every month. I love seeing how beautiful God’s creation of the ocean is. If I am not at the beach, my week normally consists of school, work, hanging out with my roommates and boyfriend, and attending Northside Baptist Church. I also love shabby chic furniture, which is furniture made to look old or distressed. My whole room is decorated like that.
Another thing that makes me happy is my family. Although I am far away from my family, I talk to them every day and I am very close to them. As I have matured in the past year, I have been even more thankful for what all my family does for me. This leads me to say that although I think that going to college and obtaining a degree is very important for me to do, being a wife and mother is my ultimate goal in life. Until then, I will continue to work hard in school, so that my dream can become a reality. My advice to everyone is to do whatever makes you happy.
