SAVORY SECRETS
If you have ever tried my food or are wondering where I obtained (what some refer to as) my “GIFT”, it is simply this… my greatest passion is cooking. Although I never attended culinary school, I obtained my skills from a diverse source. I was born in NYC of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent however, my parents raised me with their beliefs of vegetarianism derived through an ancient Indian culture. At an early age I attended a religious boarding school and learned to cook amongst the students and my friends. Thereafter, my mom, aunts, great-grandmother, Papi and their techniques were very influential on my style of cooking. Another technique I acquired was trying random dishes at restaurants, going home, discovering what ingredients made it so delicious and attempting to duplicate it. It has gotten to the point where friends will bring me a sample of their faviorite dish and request I figure it out and honestly, most often I can. It’s amazing how much pleasure and goodness comes from me when I’m doing this and maybe that’s what it is you taste.
Aside from creating daily eats for the IRONFLOWER CAFÉ at IronFlower Fitness in Miami, I am a private chef and cater events. I am currently putting together an upcoming cooking workshop in November which will be a lot of fun. Also on the horizon is completing my cookbook so be sure and look out for that.
