Matty Bennett

I am just a normal guy who grew up in SoCal without a care in the world. I have had many interests in my life, but none has carried me further than music, actually the guitar to be precise. I have been the lead songwriter, guitar player, and go-to-guy for many, many great bands. I am based out of Santa Barbara, but business-wise I would move down to Los Angeles, or commute while playing for different bands. I have also worked with addicts on a very personal level. Whether it was being a Transportation Liaison, Patient tech, or in Administration, I always enjoyed my time with the patients. I have worked at sober livings, Medical Detox and Rehab Programs. I emphatically believe my best asset to those in recovery is the fact that I am a recovering Heroin Addict myself. I can relate on a very primal level as I enter my ninth year of sobriety. I attended University of San Francisco and majored in Sociology and Music Theory. I have lived in downtown Honolulu, and spent 6 years in L.A. I love the anonymity of a large city as opposed to my hometown of Santa Barbara, CA. Regardless, no matter where I am, I will always be me. Whether I am on the road, or in a different city you can bet I will always internalize, analyze, stylize and give anyone that has less than me anything I can. I try to reach out the best that I can, stay humble and be the Matthew I know who has touched lives with his music, or show empathy dealing with those willing to recover.
