Stephen Buckbee

Stephen B. Buckbee, taught and coordinated the "Human Services" for twenty-four years at Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba, Michigan. He taught Sociology, Social Problems, Marriage and Family and related courses. He was selected as “Outstanding Person in Education” by the regional Michigan Education Association and received several honors as an outstanding faculty member. He was recognized by Northern Michigan University for collaboration in the development of the first long distance learning program for students of social work. Stephen retired from teaching in 2007 and is now working with BDD Training as a partner and trainer. BDD works with social institutions like schools, criminal justice programs, community mental health professionals, hospitals and businesses working on a wide range of topics. They help organizations create programs for promoting effective communication and coping skill with focus on the “Process of Change”.

Prior to teaching Stephen has worked has a counselor for families with addictions. Developed a counseling program housed in a county jail providing mental health services for the courts and other law enforcement agencies, worked as a substance abuse counselor and as an inpatient counselor in a hospital substance abuse unit.

Stephen is a Licensed Master’s Social Worker and a Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan. He is a member of The Satir Institute of the Pacific and The Virginia Satir Global Network. In 2013 he was selected as a “Living Treasure” by the board of the Virginia Satir Global Network for his work in the Satir community.

His current projects are to help moderate the Satir Global Network Web Site and FaceBook account. He also helped create an online course with Sharon Loeschen using her book called the Process of Change. He is also working to promote the Satir International Journal Published by University of Victoria Victoria, BC Canada.
