Simon Carden
Born in the UK, but grew up in Tokyo/Yokohama, Bangkok and Shanghai and consequently grew a passion for all that is East Asia. Developed a high level of interest for the ever changing business world whilst working in Tokyo for Tesco Head Office Japan, as well as several other part time jobs, all differing in their roles and perspectives within the business world.
This passion has led to me to Cass Business School, London, where I currently study BSc Business Studies. However, despite enjoying my time back in my home country, I have an undying urge to return to Asia and will be spending my second year studying abroad at NUS in Singapore, where I hope to meet similarly enthusiastic people that can help me reach my desire and dream of returning to Asia to work.
As you may have guessed I have two obvious passions in my life, Asian culture and language as well as travelling. Whilst already having intermediate and casual Japanese Linguistic skills, I hope to add Mandarin to this as well as Korean. Furthermore, my desire to travel and experience the world has brought me to many countries already, however this has only been for a short period of time and I would like to experience and variety or differing and diverse cultures within the business world in a working capacity, from New York City to Hong Kong and to the 3 S's of Asia, Singapore, Seoul and Shanghai.
My final passion is Football. I have grown up around the sport and without the sport I feel somewhat incomplete. I have been privileged to train and play for teams such as Kawasaki Frontale and Yokohama F Marinos in Japan and Thai Port FC in Bangkok. I have been able to witness firsthand the impact that the sport has throughout the developed and developing world, showing that any barriers between people, whether it be language, physical appearance or background, can easily be overcome when there is a mutual passion.
I hope to apply this theory into every aspect in my life as I am growing in a time where the world is growing exponentially in terms of communication and technology. Personally, this means that there is now a greater chance of connection between all the differing beliefs and opinions throughout the world, and I hope to be part of the revolution that provides the initial steps in the path towards One World, a world without Racism and Discrimination and instead a world where people work together to reach sucess with mutual goals and achievements.
