Scarlet started piano at the age of six. A Hong Kong Schools Music Festival prizewinner, she received a Diploma of Musical Studies and a first BA in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University, studying under Dr. Sophia Yang. She furthered her studies at Royal College of Music, and was among a few exceptions granted by the college to complete the Master of Music in Performance in one year instead of two, supported by Walters and Somers-Mountfort Award. She studied under Gordon Fergus-Thompson. Scarlet also received lessons from other renowned pianists including Eugen Indjic, Edward Auer, Colin Stone and Jean-Paul Sevilla.
During her studies, she received a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music in Piano Music Performance, and a Leo Tung-hai Lee Scholarship by the Italian Cultural Society to Siena, Italy, where she performed in Accademia Musicale Chigiana. She also performed in Euro Music Festival at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Wuppertal, Germany.
Scarlet has been an accompanist for HKBU choir and Cantoria Hong Kong and engaged in Czech Republic, Tianjin and Beijing. A chamber pianist of Trio con brio, the group has given concerts at Lauderdale House and St. Mary Abbots Church in London.
She was a piano leader in the 50 Golden Street Pianos event of City of London Festival, which she tutored with a street piano to Londoners and performed different types of music.
