Matthew Scharver

Hey there, I’m Matthew. I currently work in the insurance field and live in Lutz, Florida. I am a fan of soccer and I’m also interested in innovation and entrepreneurship. I want to transition out of insurance and into the sports marketing and communication field. I have a Masters degree in Sport Media & Branding from Western Kentucky University.

I went back to school to obtain my graduate degree because I felt that the direction I wanted to go in my career was not properly molded. I previously worked in radio while in college and believed that it would be my life-long career. Unfortunately, my story didn't work out that way due to the volatile nature of the radio business and the constant change that one is faced with.

After working for a few years in various positions with a myriad of responsibilities and skill-sets developed, I was not finding myself fulfilled or satisfied. I decided to go back to school and focus on something that I really enjoyed and had an interest in...marketing and sports. Knowing full-well that getting into professional sports is difficult, I decided to dive right into school and worry about the particulars at a later date. Since graduation, there have not been many positions open in the Tampa area that combine a mixture of sports with marketing. As such, I have been biding my time in the insurance field as an appointed agent servicing policies in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. I'm hoping that I can broaden my scope and find fulfilling work in this field.
