Walter Schmidt

Started in accountancy in 1974. In 2004 became Director of the Town of Oyster Bay's Veteran Services. Three tours in Vietnam -- Oct '67 to Dec '69 -- and twenty-five years later finds him a VA classified "Service-Connected" "Catastrophically Disabled" tetraplegic with a long-running VA "issue." Requiring a specialized wheelchair, coupled with other daily-demands made of him by his tetraplegia (which demands are tended to by his caregiver-wife), has curtailed travels out of Nassau County.
