Katharina Schmitt

Hello,
My name is Katharina and I am 23 years old. Currently I live in Heidelberg, but originally I am from Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg.

Before I came to the ‘Pädagogische Hochschule’ I studied English at the University Heidelberg. After three semesters, one and a half years, I changed my course of studies and started at the ‘Pädagogis​che Hochschule’. Now I am in my 6th semester here. My subjects are biology, English and Philosophy. Like everyone who wants to become a teacher in Germany I also study psychology and pedagogics.

Last semester I spent three months in Great Britain. I travelled around, starting in Clacton-on-Sea a little town at the seaside near Colchester. Next stop was London, then northwards to Cambridge, Peterborough and finally Manchester.
In terms of technology I do not have any special competences. I use social media and I can work with word, power point and excel, but I am not familiar with image editing programs and suchlike. I am a pretty fast learner though and open for new media. For this seminar for example I worked with ‘about.me’, which is a freeware you can use to create your own little homepage.
From this seminar I expect to learn a lot about Telecollaboration and project work. I hope to gain a lot of experiences in this field, so that in the future I can do projects like this with my own students.
