Born in Mogadishu in 1969, grew up in Munich, went to school and studied (History and Politics) in Britain (Royal Holloway College, University of London), worked as a journalist and columnist from early on, first for Esquire magazine, later for Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Allgemeine and BILD.
