I am a film scholar and an author. I research emotions in media fictions, especially in horror and the fantastic, and with focus on gender. I've written books and articles on horror, action, and war films.

At the moment I am writing Mastering Fear: Women, Emotions and Contemporary Horror, a book about why horror is good for us and why it is especially good for women. It examines horror of all kinds, including the paranormal romance, television horror series, torture porn, and French new extremity.

I give presentations on the emotional quality of horror, on the emotional appeal of the fantastic, on violence, and much more related to my research.

You are welcome to contact me about a presentation.
