Libraries are the living room of the community. This is a philosophy I developed several years ago. It isn't the reason I got in to working at libraries. It has become my rallying cry for why I stay in libraries. If libraries can't learn to become an inviting place for the community to come visit, then the library will have issues when it comes time to ask the age old budget question - what stays and what goes?
I started my library career at the University of Nebraska. While working there I saw public libraries in 73 of the 93 counties. There was a wide and vast variety.
I transitioned into the public library sector. I've been a reference librarian, a branch manager, managing librarian and library director. Each postion brought its challenges.
To keep my toes dangling in the academic world I've worked part-time for some local community colleges.
My interests, listed below, are all from my Strentghs Finder test. Out of all the personality tests, I believe those sum me up the best, on the analytical sense.
