Hello! I write mystery, thriller, and sci-fi novels (sometimes combining those genres). I have written many novels, including four series, and three short story collections. (You'll find a lot of free short fiction on my website in the form of PDFs free for the asking or in the blog category "Steve's Shorts.") I reversed the adage “Go west, young man” and went from California, where I was born, to Massachusetts, stopping for twelve years along the way in South America and seeing some other parts of the world during travels for work and pleasure. My travels provided me the opportunity to experience first-hand many our great diversity often portrayed in my stories while my scientific background helps make the creations of my imagination seem all the more real, especially in the sci-fi. Even though my writing is nurtured by a healthy cynicism about humanity’s future, my socially relevant fiction still leaves room to extol those heroes that make a positive contribution to our future on this planet and possible ascent toward the stars. Readers turn to books for many reasons, but the big E's are entertainment, escapism, and education. As a full-time writer, I try to give you all three, even though I write fiction.
