A young man planning to be an oceanographer ended up becoming a journalist.

He has spent an entire career as a reporter, editor and online general manager and is now an online consultant and publisher.

It taps a passion for learning, creating and experiencing. That's why I like to build multiple small Web sites about diverse topics -- travel, health, business and Virginia where I live -- than one big site that would be simpler to maintain.

I now provide online services to media and association Web sites as president and founder of Promise Media. I'm also editor and publisher of Caribeez.com, a Caribbean travel guide.

Before launching Promise Media in 2007, I spent 20 years as an online general manager and director at Cox Enterprises and Media General, two of the largest media companies in the United States.

I am a member of the national Society of Professional Journalists.

Outside of full days before a computer, I look for other ways to connect with the world -- travel, tae kwon do, cycling, volunteering and especially family.
