Scott Dodd is the national news director at The New York Times, overseeing live and breaking coverage of stories from across America. Before joining the paper in 2018, he spent several years writing and editing for magazines, running a nonprofit news outlet and teaching as an adjunct professor at Columbia Journalism School. He started his career as a local news reporter in Pennsylvania, then spent eight years at The Charlotte Observer, covering everything from Hurricane Katrina to the Super Bowl, always keeping a “go bag” ready.
