Jennifer Sande

Winnipeg

She works part-time with cool people doing policy analysis for the government of Manitoba while finishing off a Masters degree in public administration. Her passions are social justice, world travel, and the sport of curling.

She spent a good deal of her work and personal life trying to fit into a square hole till one day she noticed that she was round. Turns out, it's not that easy to live as a round peg in a world that seems to really really want people to be square. Her irreverent sense of humour and often ill-timed joie de vivre can sometimes get her in trouble.

She is somewhat concerned that organizations have been getting it wrong...productivity and quality work are not best achieved in a grey cubicle, with strict hours of cubicle attendance and one-way body posture. She would love to see a work-style revolution in government that looks more like Google. She is aware of the unrealistic nature of this idea.

She wants to meet and chat with people in the not-for-profit, volunteer, and social entreprise-type sectors to explore the interesting work people are doing. These unsung heros rarely get much publicity but she believes they are likely producing more than their share of meaningful work.

Future goals include more policy work - hopefully with non-profit organizations (or the university) as well as government, more travel, and inventing novel curling-related stuff with her husband.
