Scott K Gibson

A successful independent school leader, Scott K. Gibson combines a unique skill set that includes academic achievement, military service, and business expertise. Scott K. Gibson graduated as valedictorian from Boys' Latin School in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1978, and went on to undergraduate study at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He achieved status as a First Honor Graduate at his 1982 graduation, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he continued to build his considerable roster of advanced degrees. He received a Master of Science in International Relations from Troy University in Greenham Common, England, in 1986, and a Master of Arts in National Security Studies from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., in 1989. In 1996, Scott K. Gibson received a Master of Military Arts and Science in Military History from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, completing his advanced military study with an applied research fellowship at RAND Corporation in California in 2001 and 2002.

Scott K. Gibson left the Air Force in 2004 and accepted a position as Headmaster at his alma mater, Boys' Latin School, distinguishing himself quickly by setting the school's annual fund record. In 2006, he moved on to serve as Headmaster of St. Paul's Episcopal School in Mobile, Alabama, where he once again set an annual fund record, exceeding the fund's goal by 30 percent. Two years later, he became Head of School at Columbia Independent School (C.I.S.) in Columbia, Missouri. He accepted the position while studying for his Master of Business Administration and composed the school's business plan as the capstone project for his degree. At C.I.S., Scott K. Gibson has continued his record of fund-raising and financial success, doubling the school's annual fund in his first year. He has also increased enrollment by 67 percent since joining the school and has codesigned a new strategic plan that is currently ahead of its implementation schedule.

Scott K. Gibson and his wife of 25 years are the proud parents of a daughter and a son.
