Have you ever felt a calling inside you that is so powerful, so desperate to get out, that it consumes you until it is free? For me, that initial calling was Paramedicine. It wasn't the adrenaline rush, the money (more on that later), or the appeal of hero worship. It was a simple calling: Do for others. That simple. I wanted to do something for another person. We all have our demons, and I most certainly won't go into mine on this page, but what I will tell you is this: Let the demons free. No, I didn't say release them. I said set them free. Let them do their work. Yes, I'm aware that sounds strange, but I've also learned to embrace them. They allow me the drive and motivation to do my job. They also allow me to practice my greatest love. Writing. Writing is more than telling a story. People wrote about what they know, what they don't know, and anything in between they can imagine. But we also draw on life experiences, whether consciously or not. That's where the demons come into play. Allow them to remind you of the past, of mistakes, of great triumphs, and of greater heartaches. These demons can only harm if they are trapped. Set them free, allow them to tell the story buried in your soul. Once they are finished, they will release themselves.
