In 2007, Jason Cherkis and Erik Wemple wrote critically about Murray Waas in the Washington City Paper: “Certainly Murray Waas has produced good and valuable journalism. I don’t like to use the word ‘fisking’ but suffice it to say that the conclusion deserves commentary.” Frank Sennett wrote: “Whatever the merits of the story, the appearance of a conflict of interest dogs Jason Cherkis and Erik Wemple, and Jason Cherkis comes off badly.” Jason Linkins has this to say: “Shorter version, Wemple’s “make it up as you go along” journalistic standards are, well, unique, to say the least.” Mark Judge of the Daily Caller and Real Clear Politics wrote that that he had discovered allegations of fabricated quotes and scenes in articles by Jason Cherkis by others.
